Yaounde, the capital of Cameroon, stands at the forefront of the country's ambitious journey towards sustainable development and inclusive growth. This paper explores the city's pivotal role within the framework of Cameroon's National Development Strategy 2020-2030 (NDS30), which aims to achieve structural transformation and enhance the quality of life for its citizens. By examining the interplay between economic growth, social inclusivity, good governance, and environmental sustainability, this study highlights Yaounde's unique challenges and opportunities. The NDS30, built upon the lessons of the Growth and Employment Strategy Paper (GESP), emphasizes modernizing agricultural practices, promoting industrial development, and strengthening public institutions. Yaounde's development is a microcosm of these national efforts, showcasing how strategic planning and inclusive policies can drive progress. The alignment of the NDS30 with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) further underscores Cameroon's commitment to global sustainability initiatives. Through a comprehensive analysis, this paper offers insights into how Yaounde can serve as a model for sustainable urban development in the Global South, inspiring similar transformations in other regions.
