Abstract

This research examines the rise of the online press in Kasaï-Oriental, highlighting the challenges faced by this industry within a changing socio-economic context. Whilst the use of digital devices is increasing, limited access to the internet and technology prevents a large proportion of the population from fully benefiting from online media content. Furthermore, journalists, who often lack training in economics, focus on gathering information without seeking to make their activities profitable. The study highlights the need for a viable business model to ensure the sustainability of the online press, whilst calling for digital education for the population to strengthen their engagement with and access to information.
